It looks like Experian is no longer going to provide consumers their own credit score, however, they will provide those numbers to lenders and lenders will continue to use those numbers to make decisions on providing credit. Hopefully there will be a backlash from consumers and Experian will be devalued by both consumers and lenders. Checking and knowing your credit score is important even when you are not looking for credit because a low score often takes much more effort to improve then a high score takes to maintain. Massachusetts residents are allowed one free credit report from all three credit agencies per year.
